 Acute Rehabilitation Unit Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital’s acute rehabilitation program is a highly specialized 22-bed unit that provides services for adult patients of all ages who have suffered functional loss due to disabling illness or injury and individuals recuperating after surgery. State-of-the art equipment and the most current treatment approaches are fully utilized to maximize patient outcomes. The rehabilitation patients are very busy during the day attending various therapy sessions. Therefore, the unit has restricted visiting hours. Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital is pleased to announce the services of Dr. Debra Panucci, MD.,PhD. as of September 2, 2008 as the Medical Director of the Rehabilitation Unit. Dr. Panucci obtained her Doctorate of Medicine at WVU School of Medicine where she received honors in community medicine, emergency, cardiology, and dermatology.
Dr. Panucci completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at St. Francis Medical Center/Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. she also completed her Internal Medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Panucci hold certifications with the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Board of Internal Medicine, and National Board of Medical Examiners. She also holds unrestricted licenses in WV, OH, and PA. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and is a member of the American College of Physicians, Allegheny County Medical Society and Pennsylvania State Medical Society.
Dr. Panucci specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is trained in stroke and pain management, tramatic brain injury, musculosketal diseases, amputee care, spinal cord injuries, and neurological rehabilitation.
There are four levels of care offered under one roof at Peterson Rehab Hospital that include inpatient rehab, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing care, and long term care. Dr. Panucci will be directing the Acute Inpatient Rehab program.
